Weddings are fun to shoot no matter what - I love getting the "behind the scenes" feel that comes with photographing a couple's big day - being there for the first look, seeing the groom's face when he sees his bride walk down the aisle, the butterflies, the details, just all of it.

Weddings are even more fun to shoot when the couple CAN'T. STOP. LAUGHING. Amanda and Mike's day was full of laughter and cheer from start to finish - from Amanda's attendants cracking jokes while putting the final touches on her hair and makeup, to Amanda and Mike's heart-felt and hilarious vows, a reception full of some of the funniest toasts I've ever heard and, finally, ending with literal cheers as attendees watched the Chiefs beat the Broncos.

The little details throughout the day were so sweet: the fall flowers and pumpkins, peeks of purple in honor of Mike's deep love for Kansas State, reading the children's book "I Like You" as a nod to Amanda's work in libraries and their vow books being locked into an engraved box along with a bottle of single malt. The box will be opened on their anniversary every year so they can enjoy a glass of scotch while re-reading their vows.

In what ended up not being our best decision of the day, Amanda and Mike hopped on a pair of Lime scooters in the hopes of getting a fun action shot with the KC skyline in the background...what we didn't plan on was the scooter spinning out with Amanda on it and her taking a spill onto a curb. Thankfully, she wasn't injured, but may never live it down as Mike's sister recounted the ordeal during her toast just hours later...

What do you do when the Chiefs are on a roll and their game against the Broncos is scheduled in the middle of your wedding reception? Simple. You stream it and turn the wedding party into a watch party! At the same time, Mike's friends jumped into a game of HQ trivia, laughing at how appropriate it was to play at the reception since Mike had won money while playing during his bachelor party.
